A Powerful Collaboration with Esprit De Choeur and Winnipeg Composers
May of 2022 saw a couple of recording sessions where Esprit de Choeur, conducted by Valdine Anderson, recorded pieces expressly composed for them. The result was some stunning choral music.
First up, was a recording of a three movement piece by Neil Weisensel and Rachel Landrecht, entitled “Incandescence”. The work featured the Knox United Church’s pipe organ, played by virtuoso guest organist, Sarah Svendsen .
Next, we recorded a number of pieces composed for the choir by David R. Scott. This was an a 5 movement capella piece entitled White Field, which was composed in 2018 and first performed by Esprit de Choeur during a tour of Iceland.
The recording of Incandescence produced a video by Julie Epp which you can see here.
If you enjoy following a score, here is another video version of Incandescence.
